Updated North American Men’s Rankings 9/30/2011

1. Ky Hollenbeck (12-0-1)
Hollenbeck faced what was probably his toughest test to date in Simon Chu. He encountered a few problems early on in the fight before being able to take control of the fight midway and wear Chu down. He suffered some bad looking cuts en route to a unanimous decision victory, which made him look human as opposed to the unstoppable wrecking machine he had previously seemed to be. Hollenbeck’s road doesn’t get any easier now, as part of the MPL his first match up, which is scheduled for October 8th will be against the UK’s Jordan Watson. Hollenbeck might have a frantic style in the ring, but his output can’t be questioned. He has beaten anyone put in front of him and another tough test lies in Jordan Watson and if he can pull out a win against Watson he will once again prove he deserves the #1 ranking.

Kevin Ross was game against Saenchai, going the distance with arguably the best in the world. In the end Saenchai was just a bit too much for Ross, but he definitely gained a tremendous amount of respect from the performance he put up against Saenchai. Next for Ross will be a fight against Sakkedao for the interim WBC Muay Thai super lightweight world title. Sakkedao has fought Saenchai four times and they have split those fights two a piece. Ross will definitely have his hands full once again, but that is why everyone likes him. He doesn’t look for easy fights and only wants to fight the best.

Adanza has now posted back-to-back wins since his defeat last December in the finals of the WCK 4 man tournament. A stellar KO of Thanit “Boom” Whattanaya was followed up by a decisive decision win over Huang Hai Gong. After a scheduled fight with Demian Trainor was scratched due to an injury, Adanza is now set to face Luangsanlek Sasiprapa at M-One’s Muay Thai event at Club Nokia on October 21st.

4. Joe Schilling (11-1)

Embree avenged his loss to Coke Chunhawat in the semi-finals of the Journey Fight Series tournament and is now set to face Josh Palmer in the finals. Embree is definitely setting himself apart from much of the competition especially since he is fighting well above his normal weight class. The finals for the tournament are set for October and the bout with Palmer is expected to be an exciting one.

Jesse Miles defeated Charlie Annonay at the Ringmasters event on Feb. 4th, the win was a good way to bounce back after his decision loss to Comso Alexandre at the Kings Cup in Thailand this past December. Miles was confirmed as being one of the sixteen fighters that took part in The Challenger Muay Thai which will premier this September. Having fought as part of The Challenger Muay Thai, it is not known yet what the result of his bout was, but more should be known in the upcoming weeks.

Josh Palmer punched his ticket to the finals of the Journey Fight Series tournament by defeating Justin Greskiewicz by TKO in the semi-finals of the tournament. He is now set to meet fellow Canadian Matt Embree in the tournament finals. It should be an interesting match-up with Embree and he should prove to be a tough opponent for Embree.

The young Canadian fighter has already started to make a name for himself. His latest victim was formerly #9 ranked fighter Alex Berrios. Valtellini took the fight to Berrios on September 23rd under the Friday Night Fights banner and battered Berrios for two rounds. Punishing Berrios with leg kicks, which caused Berrios not be able to answer the bell after the second round. It was a dominating performance for the young Canadian who is looking to continue to build his name among the best in North America.
