Former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell recently visited Fort Campbell in Kentucky as part of a promotional tour for the UFC.
Known as the Iceman, Liddell was the king of the UFC’s light heavyweight division when the promotion started to take off. He was known for his short Mohawk and his one shot knockout power. He made four successful title defenses before father time caught up with him. He holds wins over UFC notables such as Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz, and Vitor Belfort.
Always a fan favorite for not only his KO power but his interactions with the fans, Liddell is not one to disappoint. It should come as no surprise that when a U.S. solider asked Liddell to kick him, the Iceman obliged.
The soldier was wearing a vest, but that didn’t keep Liddell from connecting right in the center of his chest with a spinning back kick. The solider clearly backed up after feeling the impact, and Liddell looked pretty sharp throwing the kick. Especially considering he wasn’t known for throwing spinning attacks much throughout his career and has been retired for several years now.
You can hear the impact of the kick and from how it sounds I am willing to bet that a lesser man would have gone down to the ground, but this solider stayed upright. I guarantee this soldier will never forget the day he met Chuck Liddell. Now that’s a story to tell right there.
