W5 Grand Prix Vienna XXXI took place yesterday in Vienna, Austria. The event featured a 4-man tournament and two W5 title fights.
In the 4-man tournament Artem Pashporin was victorious on the night after defeating Cosmo Alexandre in the tournament semi-final by decision. In the tournament final he took home the tournament crown with a decision over Chris Ngimbi. The 22 year old Russian fighter is starting to make a name for himself, he has started to face some big names this year. In July he went the distance with Buakaw, but dropped a decision. A win over two veterans like Alexandre and Ngimbi is big for his Pashporin and should lead to bigger fights.
Massaro Glunder was in action again, he has been very busy as of late fighting in what seems like at every event that pops up. He defeated Foad Sadeghi by unanimous decision to take home the W5 72.5kg Intercontinental Championship.
The night’s other title fight featured Sasa Jovanovic vs. Rasul Kachakev. Jovanovic defeated Kachakev by unanimous decision to win the W5 67kg European Championship.
