Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder put on a fight for the ages last night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Fury controlled most of the fight as he constantly made Wilder miss and used his counter style successfully. It seemed it was going to be smooth sailing for Fury, but in the ninth round he got dropped. Despite the hiccup Fury got back to his feet and continued to make it his fight.
Going into the twelfth and final round many thought Wilder needed a knockout to win. Midway through the round, he landed a massive right hand. Fury went down like a sack of potatoes and it seemed Wilder had pulled off the comeback. He walked away with his hand raised, but Fury channeled his inner Undertaker and rose from the brink of defeat to come back and make it to the end of the fight.
Despite the knockdowns people still had Fury winning the fight, but to the surprise of many, it was ruled a split draw. Today Fury held a surprise press conference in Los Angeles at the Mayfair Hotel.

Fury addressed several questions that had been circulating since his fight last night with Wilder. Including reiterating that he thought he won that fight and the judge that scored it for Wilder shouldn’t be allowed to judge. Fury also acknowledged how he was simply happy he could go back home to his family healthy. This prompted the questions about Adonis Stevenson.
“I hope Adonis Stevenson makes a recovery, gets better and goes home to his family safe and well,” said Fury.
For those not aware of the situation with Stevenson, he was also Boxing last night. He faced undefeated rising star Oleksandr Gvozdyk in Canada and was knocked out in the eleventh round. Unlike Fury, he was not able to recover from the vicious knockdown. He was able to get back up and everything seemed normal. Shortly after being in his locker room, he was rushed to the hospital.
Congratulations to Oleksandr Gvozdyk who slumps Adonis Stevenson in the 11th round to become ?THE NEWWWW WBC LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLDDDD!!! ?

It was a scary KO
According to Boxing Scene per a report by the Montreal Journal, Stevenson was placed in a medically induced coma to reduce swelling in his brain. His promoter Yvon Michel wrote on Twitter:
“They want to inform friends and supporters that Adonis is currently in critical condition in intensive care, at the hospital, following his fight against Oleksander Gvozdyk. They appreciate the concern and support of everyone. There will be no further comments at this time and they respectfully request your understanding in their desire to stay private.”
Stevenson is the father of a baby girl less than a month old. His fiance Simone God stated “I don’t want to comment too much on it, but I’m at the hospital, trying to be next to him and to support him. He’s a champion, he’s a fighter, he’s going to fight this.”
We hope the former champion recovers from this and can return to full health. It goes to show you how different things can be. Fury survived a massive knockdown by Wilder, while at the same time Stevenson is now fighting for his life.
