Lion Fight 36 Results

Lion Fight 36 took place tonight at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut.

The night’s main event featured “Mr. Lightning” Lerdsila PhuketTopTeam against Jacob Hebeisen. Lion Fight lightweight champion Sergio Wielzen was originally slated to defend his title against Lerdsila, but an undisclosed injury forced a late change and Hebeisen stepped in as the replacement. This one was all Lerdsila as he was just too fast for Hebeisen. In the second round he finished Hebeisen with back to back head kicks.

In the co-main event Paul Banasiak and Brett Hlavacek went the distance in a close fight. The fight started off slow as it seemed both fighters were feeling each other out, but as the rounds passed Banasiak became more aggressive and controlled the ring. Banasiak showed a nice clinch game, he made sure he was delivering knees to the body every time they clinched. The judges awarded Banasiak a unanimous decision victory, he now improves his record to 5-0.

The night’s star had to be Eddie Abasolo. The CSA product finally got to showcase his talent in front of a TV audience. He put on a clinic against PJ Sweda. He started off by attacking the legs of Sweda and then started to mix in kicks to the body. His hands looked great as well, he threw nice combinations to the head and body. In the fifth round a right to the body sent Sweda down. He was able to beat the count, but when the action resumed Abasolo went right back to digging into the body. He popped Sweda’s head back with a vicious uppercut and then went to the body with a left and the referee had seen enough as he stepped in to stop the fight. Great win for Abasolo, someone you definitely need to keep your eye on.

In other action Chip Moraza-Pollard improved his record to 4-0 with a third round (T)KO over Matt Coleman.

You can see Lerdsila’s stellar KO below and other highlights from Lion Fight 36.

  1. How come no mention of Brett’s hook to head kick combinations that landed multiple times as well as all the sweeps and elbows he landed? I have a hard time accepting the clinch work and the light knees that had no effect out weigh headkicks, sweeps and elbows.
