BREAKING: Jon ‘Bones’ Jones and Alexander ‘The Mauler’ Gustafsson has been made official for UFC 232 in December. The fight speculated on since Jones’ USADA epidemic came to an abrupt stop, is happening.
The last time we saw Jones fight was at UFC 214 last August against long-time rival Daniel ‘DC’ Cormier. But with Cormier now fighting Derrick ‘The Black Beast’ Lewis at UFC 230 next month we get the next best thing. This scheduled bout is for the undisputed UFC Light-Heavyweight title which is currently held by DC as well as the Heavyweight title.
The title will be stripped off of Cormier the second the main event starts in December. Some say it’s unfair but as always opinions are divided among the MMA community regarding just about everything.
Back and Forth
The two stars have always held a sort of rivalry but nothing near the magnitude of Jones and Cormier, that is pure hatred.
Ever since their first fight everyone’s favourite Swede, Gus felt like he was robbed of the win and therefore the title. Throwing occasional jabs at both DC and Jones over the years since they fought. There are points supporting Gus winning the fight between jones and him but at the end of the day it was 5 years ago and now he has a shot at redemption.
Cormier last month mentioned how this is what the UFC wanted, so then Cormier could fight Brock, then finalise his career by facing for the Light-Heavyweight title against what the UFC hopes to be Jon Jones. However, Cormier Vs. Gustafsson 2 would prove to be just as much of a treat. Both Jones and DC agreed they wanted to fight at 205.
The UFC 232 card is looking to be one of the most stacked cards of this year and the best way to close out the 25th year anniversary of the UFC. With names like Cris Cyborg, BJ Penn and Jon Jones on the card it will be well worth the PPV.
