On February 15, 2025, the Arena José Sulaimán in Monterrey, Mexico, will host the highly anticipated first event of 2025 for Major League Muay Thai. The headliner of the evening will see the Women’s WBC Muay Thai Super Bantamweight World Title up for grabs. Current champion Selina Flores will defend her belt against Brazil’s Barbara Fersan.

The co-main event will feature another thrilling championship showdown as Ana Carolina Accetti takes on Cynthia Flores for the Women’s International WBC Muay Thai Light Flyweight Title. The action-packed card will also include three WBC Muay Thai Nai Khanom Tom title bouts. They will take place in the heavyweight, welterweight, and lightweight divisions. Additionally, the WBC Muay Thai Super Lightweight Mexico Nuevo Leon State Title will be for grabs.

Selina Flores from San Diego, USA, won the Women’s WBC Muay Thai Super Bantamweight Title in October 2024 with a hard-fought split decision victory over Australia’s Bryony Soden. Known as the “Teep Queen,” Flores has become renowned for her exceptional footwork and movement, evading her opponents’ attacks with ease while delivering her signature teeps from virtually any angle. Though her evasiveness is a key part of her style, Flores has also demonstrated an ability to control the pace and stand and trade when necessary, adding an unpredictable dynamic to her game.

Fersan, meanwhile, is riding high after a victory in November 2024, where she bested highly touted Brazilian Tainã Duarte by decision. Fersan’s aggressive, forward-moving approach makes her a dangerous opponent, and her no-nonsense, pressure-heavy style promises to make for an exciting contrast against the elusive champion. Fans can expect a thrilling clash of styles in what is sure to be an entertaining main event.

Full Fight Card:

Selina Flores (c) vs. Barbara Fersan (For Women’s WBC Muay Thai Super Bantamweight World Championship)

Ana Carolina Accetti vs. Cynthia Flores (For Women’s International WBC Muay Thai Light Flyweight Championship)

Elias Ghazali vs. Travis Petralba

Emiliano Hernandez vs. Ethan Geffen

Jair Saldivar vs. Tyler Shaw

Marcelo Pedrosa vs. Iker Batalla (For WBC Muay Thai Nuevo Leon State Super Lightweight Championship)

Saencahi returns to action at Thai Fight. The Muay Thai legend has been on an impressive run over the past 10 years. He hasn’t lost in 77 fights and is looking to make it 78 at Thai Fight: Ubon Ratchathani.

Saenchai, along with Nong-O Chor. Hapayuk, Daophrae Mackemiphan, Klausek Sor. Rattanapol and several other Thai Fight regulars will be in action on February 16, 2025. No matchups have been made official, but Thai Fight has confirmed the fighters will be in action.

Saenchai, arguably considered the GOAT of Muay Thai, has not tasted defeat in 10 years, but a draw keeps his 77-fight unbeaten streak from being perfect. In 2023, he had a draw with Italy’s Alessio Malatesta at Thai Fight Rome.

Seanchai was last in action in December of 2024 at Thai Fight Phayao, where he picked up a unanimous decision win over Iran’s Abbas Takaloo. The win secured him the 2024 154lb King’s Cup Title.

Glory has announced a massive tournament they are calling “Last Heavyweight Standing.” The tournament will feature 32 fighters.

The tournament will kick off at Glory 99 on April 5, 2025, at the Rotterdam Ahoy in the Netherlands. Taking place over five events, the 16 winners of the 32-man opening round will then be placed into 4-man tournaments. Four winners will then secure their spot in the final eight.

The remaining four spots in the final eight will be secured by fighters who make it out of a 24-man tournament and then win one of three 4-man tournaments, with the final spot being secured by a wild card participant. The final eight will battle it out in a one-night tournament to determine the winner.

“GLORY is the only place in the world where you could see 32 of the baddest heavyweights on the planet put it all on the line in the ‘Last Heavyweight Standing’ tournament, the biggest of its kind in combat sports history,” said Marshal Zelaznik, GLORY CEO. “Today we are announcing a host of exciting names and we have more to follow in the coming days. The tournament brings excitement for fight fans globally and a career defining opportunity for the fighters. This will be a true test of the fighter heart & spirit.”

Nine fighters have already been announced for the tournament, and more are expected to be confirmed soon. It will be interesting to see if the King of Kickboxing, Rico Verhoeven, and current Glory Heavyweight Champion, decides to enter the tournament.

Confirmed Fighters:

Jamal Ben Saddik (36-9, 29 KO)

Bahram Rajabzadeh (70-4, 61 KO)

Uku Jurjendal (20-9, 16 KO)

Myanmar’s Vero Nika has signed with ONE Championship. The former Lethwei fighter turned Muay Thai fighter is expected to compete in the ONE Women’s Atomweight Muay Thai and Kickboxing divisions.

Nika is one of Myanmar’s best female Lethwei fighters, having only been defeated once in 18 fights. She made her Muay Thai debut in 2022 and has a record of 18-2. Nine of her wins came by way of (T)KO. She has primarily fought under the Thai Fight banner, with her most recent fight being a win over Argentina’s Florencia Greco in August of 2024.

She trains at Tiger Muay Thai in Phuket, Thailand. She relocated to Thailand after the pandemic as fighting opportunities in Myanmar were scarce in conjunction with the coup d’état that started in 2021.

She is nicknamed “The Fighting Idol” because, in 2018, she appeared on Myanmar Idol, their equivalent to American Idol.

Nika will undoubtedly set her sights on the ONE Women’s Atomweight Muay Thai and Kickboxing Championships. Brazil’s Allycia Hellen Rodrigues holds the ONE Women’s Atomweight Muay Thai Title. Phetjeeja Lukjaoporongtom holds the ONE Women’s Atomweight Kickboxing Title.
