Anthony Castrejon will be returning to the Muay Thai ring at Triumphant 2 on December 15 in Pleasonton, CA.
Anthony started off his combat sports career in Muay Thai and after a successful run he turned his focus to MMA. Fighting him in his return to Muay Thai will be up and coming Travis Clay from Arizona.
Known for his exciting and explosive fight style, Anthony will be looking to entertain the Northern California crowd. We were able to catch up with Anthony and talk about the upcoming fight.
MTA: You have a fight against Travis Clay on December 15th at Triumphant 2. How has training been going for the fight?
Anthony: Training has been going great actually. I took my camp back home to Vegas for this fight.
MTA: How familiar are you with your opponent?
Anthony: Travis & I have fought on a few of the same cards together & he’s also fought against someone from my camp as an ammy.
MTA: What would you say is your biggest advantage entering the fight?
Anthony: I believe my movement will play a huge factor in the fight
MTA: What gym do you represent?
Anthony: One Kicks Gym
MTA: When did you start training and why?
Anthony: I started training at the age of 12 years old. My brother has always been a huge fan of Kickboxing and Muaythai and pretty much saved me from and the wrong things I was doing at that age.
MTA: For fight fans that have not seen you before, can you describe your style?
Anthony: Dutch style movement with Thai power.
MTA: I know you’ve been in the fight game for a while, how does your training differ under Muay Thai, Kickboxing and MMA?
Anthony: Yes, I have 14 years now and it varies a lot depending on what style I’m fighting. MuayThai is my heart and soul tho.
MTA: Are you planning on sticking to one sport, two sports or multiple sports?
Anthony: I never really planned on fighting multiple styles, it kinda just happened but might stay with both.
MTA: What are your goals in Muay Thai and in MMA?
Anthony: Goals are to have world championships belts in both
MTA: You are going to be the hometown favorite (technically closer) in this fight. How much of an advantage do you think it is to have the crowd on your side?
Anthony: With guys like Travis & I the home town favorite doesn’t really mean a lot because we both plan to finish the fight.
MTA: Is there anything about your opponent you know you need to keep an eye out for?
Anthony: He has really good timing and counters so I gotta be on my A game.
MTA: Prediction for the fight?
Anthony: I predict this fight not going five rounds & for us to be fight of the night as well.
MTA: Any words for your supporters?
