Scott Hirano (@ScottHirano) was on hand to cover Julie Kitchen as she
trains for her upcoming fight against Amanda Kelly at Muay Thai In America’s “In
Honor of the King.” Julie has been training in Los Angeles with trainer Paulo
Tocha and will be fighting Amanda on December 1st at Raleigh Studios.

America At A Glance – A series of articles, videos, interviews and more highlighting American Muay Thai, then and now

Unfortunately, Muay Thai in the U.S. is still in its infancy and is far from reaching the popularity that it currently enjoys in both Europe and Asia. However, the last few years have been pretty big for Muay Thai and the opportunities to help the sports of Kickboxing and Muay Thai flourish in America are now many. For many years American Muay Thai fans could only voice their opinions about the sport at their local gyms and small events where they were either spectator or participant. Now, with sites such as Muay Thai is Life, Muay Thai Authority, Liverkick, Total Muay Thai, My Muay Thai, and more, fans finally have places where they can share their thoughts and or learn about what is going on in the North American Muay Thai scene, as well as the rest of the world.

Each of these sites have a different voice but all of them are intent on making sure that, in the end, awareness about the beautiful sports of Muay Thai and Kickboxing grows; not only in America but also around the world.

Along with these other great sites, Muay Thai is Life and Muay Thai Authority aim to bring you some of the best coverage of Muay Thai and Kickboxing in the U.S. For this reason we (Muay Thai Authority and Muay Thai is Life) have decided to collaborate on a series titled “America At A Glance – Highlighting Muay Thai in America”, that will showcase not only some of the best up and coming fighters in America, but also the gyms, instructors, and promoters that are helping the sport grow here in the U.S. It’s a no holds barred, all access pass to a who’s who in the American Muay Thai scene. How they started in Muay Thai, where they are now, and where they are going. Our goal is to highlight not only the fighters that are making a name for themselves today but also those that paved the way and are now passing on their knowledge to the new generation of Muay Thai fighters and Kickboxers training their way to stardom at the local Muay Thai gym.

While Kevin Ross, Miriam Nakamoto, Romie Adanza, and Ky Hollenbeck are among the names at the upper echelon of Muay Thai in America at the moment, our goal is to also showcase the fighters that will be or are currently making a name for themselves and have yet to be celebrated. How did fighters like Ognjen Topic, Justin Greskiewicz, Lindsay Scheer, or Rami Ibrahim get their start? Where did they train? Who are there trainers? What is a session of training like at Cool Hearts Muay Thai, Sitan Gym NYC, or Real Fighters Gym? Also who are the minds behind Take On Productions, Warriors Cup, Lion Fight Promotions, Friday Night Fights, Push Kick, and the other major fight promotions in the U.S.?

These are all questions we feel Muay Thai fans in the U.S. want and need answered. And our goal is to give you those answers via articles, video, interviews, and more! Muay Thai Authority and Muay Thai is Life are looking to give you those answers and we also aim to show you more about who we are as well. You will see collaborative article spotlights such as “Fighters of the Month” and “Gyms of the Month” all under our new “America At A Glance” series. We have been working hard on this project, so we really hope you enjoy. Stay tuned for the first of our “America At A Glance” articles later this week and join us for the ride as we learn much more about some of the names behind the growth of Muay Thai in America!
