Friday Night Fights: Berrios vs. Hlavacek Results

Friday Night Fights was back this past weekend and the main event featured of a bout between two of the the United States finest Nak Muay. Florida’s Alex Berrios and New York’s Brett Hlavacek battled for five rounds. Early on it seemed Berrios was in firm control of the fight with Hlavacek. In the third round Hlavacek came out swinging heavy and was able to gain back some ground. The final two rounds were a little bit slower paced and when it came time to the judges decision it wasn’t clear who would take it. The judges official decision awarded Hlavacek a unanimous decision win.

In the night’s only other pro fight Michael Stevens out pointed Brian Wright by unanimous decision. Stevens was a step ahead of Wright throughout the fight and did a good job keeping good form and technique to earn the win.

Friday Night Fights 2014 Season Opener re-scheduled for January 31st

Friday Night Fights has re-scheduled their 2014 season opener. Originally scheduled for January 17th the event will now take place January 31st. The only confirmed bout for the event is Chris Kwiatkowski vs. Justin Greskiewicz.

Kwiatkowski will look to build upon his win at the Friday Night Fights 2013 Season Finale earlier this month. Kwiatkowski defeated Omar Vega by
first round (T)KO after Vega suffered a broken arm blocking a head kick
from Kwiatkowski. Greskiewicz will be looking to end a two fight skid
when he faces Kwiatkowski, most recently he dropped a decision to Eddie Martinez under the Take-On Promotions banner this past September.

Chris Kwiatkowski vs. Omar Vega set for Friday Night Fights 2013 Season Finale

Friday Night Fights has officially announced Chris Kwiatkowski vs. Omar Vega for their 2013 season finale. The fight joins the already announced main event bout between Joe Sampieri and Aaron Fisher.

Kwiatkowski will be looking to break a two fight skid after having lost his last two fights by decision to Jose Palacios and Kevin Ross. The man known as “The Polish Punisher” has not been very active this year, but will be looking to end the year on a big win.

The Friday Night Fights 2013 season finale takes place December 13 at The Modern in New York.

Results: Friday Night Fights “Bello vs. Robinson”

Friday Night Fights “Bello vs. Robinson” took place this past Friday and in the main event Villi Bello defeated Deshawn Robinson by unanimous decision. Known for his heavy hands Robinson look strong in the first round, but Bello weathered the storm he began to stalk Robinson who looked to create distance but was unable too. Bellow has now won back to back fights and improves to 7-3 as a pro. Robinson seemed like he was poised to have a break out year in 2013, but instead has now dropped 3 consecutive fights.

In other pro action Marc Seno defeated Matthew McCusker by unanimous decision and Stephane Smarth defeated Randy Fortier by unanimous decision.

Friday Night Fights “Castrejon vs. Lemjerdine” results, the first full rules Muay Thai event in New York

Full rules Muay Thai has come to New York. Friday Night Fights became the first promotion to host a full rules event in New York last night and the fights did not disappoint. In the night’s main event Las Vegas native Anthony Castrejon made quick work of Mohammed Lemjerdine. A head kick 47 seconds into the first round ended the bout. It was an impressive knockout for Castrejon, and a surprise to many. Lemjerdine is a highly touted fighter from Connecticut, but Castrejon used some nice foot work and timing to land the fight ending kick.

In the night’s co-main event Villi Bello and Turan Hasanov met in a re-match of their 2011 barn burner. In the first encounter Hasanov took home a judge’s decision, but this time around it wouldn’t go the distance. In the fourth round Bello scored a (T)KO victory due to leg kicks over Hasanov to event things up between them at one a piece.

In the first full rules Muay Thai fight in New York Elijah Clarke scored a KO victory over Gil Pinheiro, and it couldn’t have come in a more appropriate way. In the fourth round Clarke landed some elbows and a knee to end the bout and get the win in his pro debut.

Full rules Muay Thai comes to New York for the first time at this weekend’s Friday Night Fights event

Friday Night Fights April 5th event at The Broad Street Ballroom in New York is set to feature two of America’s rising talents in its main event. Anthony Castrejon of Las Vegas and Mohammed Lemjerdine of Connecticut will fight in what can easily be looked at as west vs. east match up. In the co-main event a re-match between Turan Hasanov and Villi Bello is sure to get fans on their feet, especially if it anything reminiscent to their first encounter in late 2011. What should really get fans in attendance excited is that the Friday Night Fights event on April 5th will feature full rules Muay Thai for the first time in the state of New York.

Full rules Muay Thai was set to come to New York in early 2012, but for one reason or another it was postponed. Now it seems the time is right and for fans that have been clamoring for the use of elbows in the state of New York, your wish is about to come true.

“Full Rules has a great deal of support from the fighters, traditionalists and the purists which are a very important segment of our supporters. Friday Night Fights has been at the forefront of the sport since 1997 and we’re glad to be able add this dimension of the sport to New York fans” Said FNF President, Justin Blair. “This is a big step for Muay Thai in New York as no one will be able to complain about its authenticity any longer.”

One thing is for certain, no one will be able to say they don’t fight real Muay Thai in New York again.

Anthony Castrejon vs. Mohammed Lemjerdine set as main event for Friday Night Fights April 5 event

Friday Night Fights has announced that Mohammed Lemjerdine and Anthony Castrejon will fight in the main event of their April 5th event at The Broad Street Ballroom in New York. In the night’s co-main event Villi Bello and Turan Hasanov will meet in a re-match of their 2011 bout.

Lemjerdine was last in action this past September when he defeated Tony Manoharan by unanimous decision under the Friday Night Fights banner. He was schedule to fight Rami Ibrhaim this past February, but an injury to Ibrahim cancelled the bout.

Castrejon most recently competed under the Lion Fight banner at Lion Fight 7. He dropped a WBC Muay Thai national title fight to Andy Singh by unanimous decision. Before his lost to Singh Castrejon had won the first three bouts of his professional career.

NEW YORK (Mar. 6, 2013) – FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS, North America’s
longest running Muay Thai promotion will return on April 5, 2013, to The Broad
Street Ballroom in Manhattan, New York. The night’s main event will feature a
fight between two of America’s
best young talents as Mohammed
Lemjerdine (4-1) of West Haven, Connecticut will take on Anthony “Pretty Boy” Castrejon (3-1) of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mohammed Lemjerdine is known for his solid technique and as a pro holds a
victory over the highly touted Ognjen Topic. Already considered one of the East
Coast’s best fighters, the addition of Castrejon’s name to his resume would
help cement his name as one of the best on a national level.

Anthony Castrejon is a highly touted young gun from out west. Known for his
exciting and aggressive fight style, he will be making his East Coast debut
against one of the East Coast’s finest. East Coast fans won’t be disappointed
by Castrejon’s style and are in for a treat.

In the co-main event Villi Bello (5-2)
and Turan Hasanov (5-3) will square
off in a re-match of their 2011 barn burner. The last time these two fighters
met the crowd went crazy as they slugged it out for five hard fought rounds.
Hasanov walked away with a decision victory on that night, but the fans were
the real winners. Now a year and a half
later it’s time for the re-match and if it is anything like the first bout, the
fans will once again walk away victorious.

Weekend Recap: Petrosyan, Yodsanklai , Campbell all victorious this weekend

There was a lot of Muay Thai action this past weekend. The big event here in the United States was Push Kick Promotions “World Stand Off” which featured the main event between Chike Lindsay and Somluck Kamsing. You can read our full event recap of the event here.

Here are some other results you may have missed from all of the action that took place this weekend.

March 1, 2013:

Friday Night Fights
Friday Night Fights ran into a streak of bad luck in the last few weeks before their event with their original main event of Rami Ibrahim vs. Mohammed Lemjerdine being scrapped due to an injury to Ibrahim. Their new main event of Preston Baptiste vs. Villi Bello was then affected when Baptiste pulled out of the fight. Stepping in to replace him on short notice was Turan Hasanov, but the bout was scrapped when Bello fell ill the week of the fight.

Chris Mauceri vs. Matt McCusker was set as the main event come fight time and if what a short night of work for Chris Mauceri as he scored a KO in the first round.

March 2, 2013

Gotti Promotions
In Italy Giorgio Petrosyan made quick work of Ole Larsen in what was seen by many as a fight to keep him busy before his next GLORY appearance. Petrosyan scored only his second stoppage victory in three years when he connected with a head kick and put Larsen down for good.

Journey Fight Series
In Calgary, Canada Shane Campbell and Sean McKinnon fought in the 160lb tournament final for the WMC North American title. Campbell continued his successful return to Muay Thai action by defeating Sean McKinnon for his fourth consecutive victory

Warriors Night
In France Yodsanklai Fairtex continued his resurgence by defeating Yohan Lidon by unanimous decision. Dylan Salvador also continued his current rise by defeating Kaew Fairtex by unanimous decision.

Villi Bello and Turan Hasanov were set to fight in a re-match of their 2011 barn burner, but the fight will not be happening tonight. Bello fell ill in the recent days with flu like symptoms and can not compete tonight. Promoted to the main event is a fight between Matt McCusker and Chris Mauceri.

McCusker and Muceri both have exciting styles which should make for an exciting match up.

Results and Recap: Friday Night Fights 2013 Season Opener

Friday Night Fights kicked of their year yesterday with the 2013 season opener. The event featured a main event bout between Alex Berrios and Eric Utsch. Berrios jumped ahead early in the fight scoring an eight count on Utsch in the second round, but Utsch rallied late. In the end Berrios got the nod from the judges taking home a Majority Decision.

In the night’s only other pro bout Liam Tarrant and Deshawn Robinson fought for five hard rounds. Robinson struck early scoring two knockdown on Tarrant in the first round and opening a cut on him. Tarrant, however, showed nothing but grit as he battled back into the fight. Tarrant continued to stay active throughout the fight while it seemed Robinson began to fade. In the end the judges awarded Tarrant a majority decision victory.
