The Glory 18 fight card continues to grow. Glory has now confirmed the first fight that will be part of the events Super Fight Series. Benjamin Adegbuyi will take on Hesdy Gerges in a heavyweight bout. 

Romania’s Adegbuyi is currently the sixth ranked heavyweight in Glory’s rankings and is currently 2-0 fighting for Glory. He holds two (T)KO wins under Glory, the latest being over Daniel Sam at Glory 16.
Gerges is a veteran in the Kickboxing circuit and is currently the fifth ranked heavyweight in Glory’s Rankings. He is 2-1 fighting under the promotion and last competed for them at Glory 15 where he scored a (T)KO over Jhonata Diniz.
Glory 18 is set to feature a title fight between current lightweight champion Davit Kiria and Robin van Roosmalen. A 4-man light heavyweight contender tournament will also take place on the night featuring Brian Collette, Artem Vakhitov, Saulo Cavalari, and Zack Mwekassa.

It has been quite a few months since Kickboxing fans had heard anything from Glory, now the promotion has officially announced that Glory 18 will take place November 7th in Oklahoma. The event is booked for the Grand Casino Hotel & Resosrt in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

The night’s main event will feature a Glory Lightweight Title Fight between current champion Davit Kiria and challenger Robin van Roosmalen. Kiria last competed at Glory 14 is Zagreb, Croatia where he captured the Glory Lightweight Title from Andy Ristie with an impressive come from behind knockout victory. Kiria and van Roosmalen have faced each other before with van Roosmalen defeating Kiria by unanimous decision at Glory 12. 

In the co-main event American Wayne Barrett will take on Jason Wilnis. Barrett recently made headlines when he signed an endorsement deal with Adidas. He has not competed since losing in the semi-finals of the Last Man Standing Tournament in a controversial decision. 

A light heavyweight contenders tournament will also be taking place on the night. Brian Collette will face Zack Mwekassa and Saulo Cavalari will take on Artem Vakhitov in the tournament semi-finals.

Glory has officially confirmed four more fights for Glory 12 in New York. The bouts are Eddie Walker vs. Francois Ambang, Brian Collette vs. Warren Thompson, Artem Vakhitov vs. Nenad Pagonis, and Dustin Jacoby vs. Makoto Uehara. As previously announced Glory 12 will host the promotions lightweight tournament which will feature Giorgio Petrosyan vs. Andy Ristie, and Robin van Roosmalen vs. Davit Kiria.

Both
Walker and Ambang will be looking to get back on the winning track.
Each fighter lost their last fight by (T)KO due to leg kicks. Walker at Glory 5 against Steve Wakeling, and Ambang at Glory 9 against Joseph Valtellini. Both are known for their heavy hands and it should be an exciting fight between two heavy hitters.
Collette will look to build upon his win over Randy Blake at Glory 10 by welcoming Glory new comer Thompson. The Atlanta based Thompson has competed in both Muay Thai and MMA and most recently was featured on the Enfusion reality TV series.  

Vakhitov will be looking to build on his impressive win at Glory 9 where he made his promotional debut with a body shot knockout over Luis Tavares. Pagonis will look to have an impressive promotional debut as he steps into the Glory ring for the first time.

Jacoby made his pro Kickboxing debut by winning the Road to Glory light heavyweight tournament. Formerly an MMA fighter, Jacoby has done well building a solid 4-2 mark for Glory. His last competed at Glory 9 where he went 1-1 on the night in the Glory light heavyweight tournament, beating Brian Collette in the quarter finals and losing to Danyo Ilunga in the semi-finals. Uehara will be making his Glory debut, the Japanese fighter holds wins over the likes of Stefan Leko and Glory fighter Kengo Shimizu.

First it was Artem Levin vs. Simon Marcus, then it became
Artem Levin vs. Joe Schilling, it then turned into Joe Schilling vs. Artem
Vakhitov and now it is expected to be Joe Schilling vs. Karapet Karapetyan.
Muay Thai Authority has been informed that Artem Vakhitov will no longer be
fighting Joe Schilling at Battle for the Belts on June 9th in
Bangkok, Thailand. Vakhitov has been replaced by Karapet Karapetyan, and will
meet Joe Schilling for the Interim WBC Muay Thai Light Heavyweight Title.
Vakhitov was replaced because it seemed he would not be able
to meet the 175lb required weight limit in time for the fight. Karapetyan is an
Armenian fighter now based in Holland, he is 2-1 on the year. February of this year, he
dropped a decision to Dutch fighter Nieky Holzken; in March he scored a
knockout over Greek fighter Alexandros Chatzichronoglou with a
flying knee; and in April he took home a decision win over Yakup Kaya.

An official announcement from WBC Muay Thai is expected to
follow soon.

Muay Thai Authority first reported last week on a rumor that Artem Levin would no longer be fighting Joe Schilling at Battle for the Belts in Thailand. No information had been released by Levin or the WBC since the initial reports and many believed the fight would still go on.

The WBC has finally addressed the rumor and today sent out a press release stating that Artem Levin was indeed out as he recovers from medical surgery on his knee May 19th. Stepping in to replace him will be fellow Russian Artem Vakhitov, who has a common foe with Joe Schilling in Simon Marcus. Marcus has beat Vakhitov twice, both times by decision.

ARTEM VAKHITOV REPLACES LEVIN FOR BATTLE FOR THE BELTS EVENT

Artem Vakhitov will replace his Russian country rival Artem Levin in the WBC MUAYTHAI Light Heavyweight Championship – one of seven world titles to be staged in the Battle For The Belts event in Bangkok on 9 June.

Levin underwent arthroscopy surgery on his left knee joint on 19 May and it was hoped that he would have a full recovery of the medial meniscus resection. While the post operative period showed no complications – after further consultations with his surgeon, management, promoter BEC Tero and the WBC – it was decided that for safety reasons Levin be withdrawn from his title defence.

Vakhitov, the 21-year-old sensation who lost on points to Simon Marcus in the Muay Thai Premier League has been in peak training and welcomed the opportunity to fight for the vacant title against the USA champion Joe Schilling.

Levin will travel to Bangkok for the historic seven world titles event that will be televised live across Thailand on Channel 9 and internationally by the IMG.

While extremely disappointed Levin, as the WBC champion in voluntary recess, said he was committed to winning back the prestigious WBC world title green belt that he considers is the ultimate achievement in professional Muay Thai.
