If you are a huge fan of Muay Thai then Mia Kang might be the perfect woman for you.
Not only is she a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model she is also huge Muay Thai fan and will soon be making her pro debut.
The Hong Kong native appeared in February’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and in May will be making her pro Muay Thai debut in Thailand.
She stumbled upon Muay Thai when she decided to take a 10 day break after modeling work in Hong Kong. The 10 day trip turned into six months, in which time she he started training in Thai Boxing. In a recent interview she told Vogue:
“When you have your a– handed to you in front of whole room of people and you’re able to get up and shake your opponent’s hand , that’s so good for the soul.”
Mia also added that Muay Thai was a major ego check. There currently is no opponent named for her pro Muay Thai debut. In addition to her Muay Thai skills she also holds a master’s degree from the University of London in finance and financial law. She is definitely a triple threat. Attractive, smart and athletic. When in Thailand she was training at Yodyuth Muaythai in Koh Samui.
It is great to see Muay Thai being picked up by people in the main stream. This is what it needs to gain acceptance by the main stream. You never know, maybe Mia can be to Muay Thai what Gina Carano and Ronda Rousey were for MMA in terms of bringing it more exposure.
