ONE FC, one of the largest MMA promotions in Asia will add Kickboxing and Muay Thai to its events.
The news was announced today by ONE FC owner Chatri Sityodtong that they will promote the ONE Super Series. It will feature the world’s best strikers in Kickboxing and Muay Thai, Taekwondo, Kung Fu and several other martial arts.
He stated that Kickboxing and Muay Thai will be part of their upcoming April 20, 2017, show, ONE: Heroes of Manila. The event will take place in the Philippines. Kickboxing legend Giorgio Petrosyan will be fighting Lion Fight champion Jo Nattawut. Also featured on the event will be a Muay Thai rules fight using MMA gloves between Muay Thai world champion Nong-O Gaiyanghadao and Radjamnern Stadium Champion Fabio Pinca.
It is exciting enough that these two fights are taking place and that ONE will be stepping into Kickboxing and Muay Thai. It will give fighters more opportunities to compete. If that wasn’t enough for you, Chatri also stated as a slew of fighters they have signed. These include Yodsaenklai Fairtex, Panicos Yusuf, Yodcherry Sityodtong, Alain Ngalani, Sam-A Gaiyanghadao, Petchboonchu FA Group, Regian Ersel, Sergej Maslobojev, and many others.
They are definitely looking to make a splash and you can only imagine the anticipation fight fans will have now. Petrosyan vs. Yodsanlkai 2 seems to have just become a real possibility.
It is also very reassuring for Kickboxing and Muay Thai fans that Kickboxing and Muay Thai are thriving. When one of the largest MMA promotions in the world decides to add them to their line up it is very good news.
It will be very interesting to see how things play out with Asia now being home to most of the world’s top Kickboxing promotions. Between Kunlun Fight, Glory of Heroes, WLF and now ONE FC, most of the top talent is competing in Asia. Glory and SuperKombat have recently ventured into China, proving that the future of the sport seems to be in Asia.
