Lion Fight 32 took place this past weekend as the promotion returned to its hometown of Las Vegas. The Tropicana was host to the night’s event which featured a main event bout between Jo Nattawut and Malaipet Sasiprapa for the Lion Fight Middleweight Championship. Originally schedule to be Ky Hollenbeck vs. Malaipet, Nattawut stepped in on short notice after an injury forced Hollenbeck to pull out.
Nattawut didn’t seem to be bothered at all by taking the fight on short notice as he was in control from the start of the fight. He worked Malaipet’s body over with kicks and did not let his fellow Thai get into any rhythm. When it was over Nattawut took home the win by unanimous decision. He also became the first fighter to hold two titles simultaneously for Lion Fight as he is the super welterweight and middleweight champion now.
In the co-main event veteran Romie Adanza and young gun Ming Freeman beat each other up for five rounds. Freeman was quicker on the attack, but he suffered a leg kick knockdown in the final round. The knockdown was enough to help Adanza score a majority draw on the judges score cards. It isn’t without controversy, however, what appeared to be an elbow knockdown in the first round for Adanza was ruled a slip.
In other action Travis Clay remained undefeated as he scored a (T)KO win over Marvin Madariaga in what can only be described as a fire fight. Both of these fighters came out and laid it on the line in what was the night’s most exciting fight.
Peru’s Gabriel Mazzetti made a successful Lion Fight debut as he stopped Josh Shepard in the second round. Mazzetti had Shepard hurt at the end of the first round and wasted no time finishing him off in the second round as he forced Shepard’s corner to throw in the towel.
