Lion Fight 27 is fast approaching at the end of the month, but Lion Fight is already planning their next event. Lion Fight 28 is set for February 26 at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut. The night’s main event will feature a super welterweight title fight between current champion Jo Nattwaut vs. Kem Sitsongpeenong.
Nattawut captured the Lion Fight Super Welterweight Championship at Lion Fight 22 when he defeated Salah Khalifa by unanimous decision. He defended his title at Lion Fight 24 with a (T)KO win over Charlie Peters. Nattawut has not lost in the Lion Fight ring and is 5-0 for the promotion with wins against Cosmo Alexandre and Sean Kearney. Nattawut has a very technical style and has been a puzzle for all of his opponents to figure out. He knows when to be aggressive, he knows when to back off, so far he has not shown many chinks in his armor.
Kem Sitsongpeenong will be Nattawut’s stiffest test to date. The highly decorated Thai fighter will come into the fight after being stunned by Dmitry Varets under the Top King World Series banner this past December. The (T)KO loss to Varets put an end to a five fight win streak. Kem has been in the ring with the best of the best, he holds wins over Singmanee Kaewsamrit (2x), Dylan Salvador (2x), and Fabio Pinca (2x). Kem is a WBC Muay Thai Champion, WMC Muay Thai Champion, Rajadamnern Stadium and more.
The pair was originally scheduled to fight at Lion Fight 22 for the vacant super welterweight title at the time, but some last minute issues forced Kem to withdraw from the bout. Fans should be treated to an exciting fight as both fighters have great styles.
