Nieky Holzken looked unbeatable for the past few years, but at Glory: Collision he was upset by Cedric Doumbe.
It was the first loss for Holzken in four years, and with it he lost the Glory welterweight title. The split decision loss left Holzken and fans wanting a re-match and now they will get it at Glory 42 in Paris, France. The pair will headline the main card portion of the event.
Doumbe has successfully defended the title once since he won it back in December of 2016. He defeated Yoann Kongolo at Glory 39 by unanimous decision. He has now won 11 straight fights, his last loss was a controversial decision in January of 2016.
Holzken has not fought in Kickboxing since losing his title. He had won 11 straight fights, three of them title defenses before falling short against Doumbe.
In the Super Fight Series Yoann Kongolo vs. Antoine Pinto will be the headliner. Kongolo will be looking to rebound from his loss to Doumbe, while Pinto is looking to punch his ticket to a title shot. A win here would be huge for pushing Pinto to the front of the line in the division. Pinto made his promotional debut at Glory 38, defeating Richard Abraham by split decision.
Also taking place in the Super Fight Series is Jimmy Vienot vs. Casey Greene. Other fighters expected to be in action at the event are Dylan Salvador and Zinedine Hameur-Lain.
