Former UFC Champion and New York native Chris Weidman has been confirmed to be in action at UFC 205. The announcement of Weidman on the card was something fans were waiting for, he petitioned heavily for MMA to be legalized in his home state. The man that will be standing across the octagon from Weidman will be Cuban Olympian Yoel Romero.
Weidman will set foot in the octagon for the first time since losing his UFC middleweight crown to Luke Rockhold at UFC 194. Romero will enter the bout riding a seven fight win streak with names such as Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, Lyoto Machida, and Tim Kennedy among the fighters he has bested during his streak.
The announcement of Weidman vs Romero comes on the heels of last night’s confirmation that Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez would fight for the UFC lightweight title in the main event.
