Buakaw vs. Yodsanklai Now Likely For 2018

The Muay Thai world went into a frenzy last week when Buakaw and Yodsanklai squared off in the ring at MAS Fight 1.

Buakaw performed a demo at the event, while Yodsanklai scored a first round KO in his fight with Masoud Minaei. After Yodsanklai’s win, Buakaw was brought into the ring and it was stated by Kunlun Fight and MAS Fight’s Tony Chen that the two would be fighting with the winner getting 1 million dollars.

For those not familiar with MAS Fight, they use a special rule set. Fighters wear 6 oz open fingered gloves. The fighters use full Muay Thai rules, but in addition armbar and choke techniques are allowed while standing, as well as throws. There is only one 9 minute round and the only way a fighter can win is by KO, or three knockdowns. If neither happens then the fight is ruled a draw.

Sources at Kunlun Fight have stated that despite everyone wanting the fight to happen in 2017, it looks as if fans will have to wait until 2018. Apparently both fighters are all ready booked up for the year, and 2018 is the earliest they are available.

There is still no talk as to what rule set will be used, but it was stated that it will most likely be the MAS Fight rules or Muay Thai rules.

Either way as long as this happens the fans will be the winners. This really is Muay Thai’s Mayweather vs. Paquiao.
