Muay Thai fans have suffered a devastating blow when it comes to end of the year action. The highly anticipated bout of Buakaw vs. Fabio Pinca has been cancelled.
The pair was slated to face each other at All-Star Fight 3 on December 10, 2017 in Paris, France. Both men were in action recently, but had drastically different results. Buakaw won his bout against Marouan Toutouh for Kunlun Fight with a brutal knockout. Unfortunately for Pinca that wasn’t the case.
He was part of the Glory 47 featherweight contender tournament which featured four fighters competing in one night with hopes of earning a Glory title shot. Entering the tournament he was the favorite to win, but in his semi-final fight, Anvar Boynazarov not only ruined his tournament plans, but the Buakaw vs. Fabio Pinca fight.
Boynazarov connected with a left hook in the second round that put Pinca’s lights out. It was a huge upset as Pinca is one of the best strikers in the world, and although his bread and butter is Muay Thai he has always performed well under Kickboxing rules. This marked the first time in more than 120 fights that Pinca had been knocked out.
Pinca announced through his Facebook that he had to withdraw from the bout because he will not have enough time to prepare for Buakaw. This is now the third time that a fight between Buakaw and Pinca has been cancelled. There was a lot of interest in this bout, especially since Pinca won the prestigious Radjadamnern Stadium title a few months back.
Buakaw will still fight on the All-Star Fight 3 event, but his opponent is yet to be named.
