Blessed with Venom is a documentary about John Wayne Parr, a legend in Muay Thai. He is one of the most recognized and respected foreigners to ever compete in Thailand.
The Australian fighter travels to Thailand to visit his old camp Loomingkwan in Nonthaburi. He relives some of his memories of fighting in Lumpinee Stadium and interviews fighters such as Yodsanklai Fairtex, Saenchai, and Lamsongkan.
The documentary originally had a limited release in John Wayne Parr’s home country of Australia in 2011.
For those not familiar with John Wayne Parr, he is one of the most entertaining personalities in Muay Thai. Not only is he a great fighter, but an all around great guy. Always a positive attitude looking to have fun. If you don’t already, make sure to follow him on social media, especially Instagram. The man is a riot! @johnwayneparr
He has fought a who’s who list of fighters in his career including Yodsanklai, Mike Zambidis, Buakaw, and the list goes on and on. He currently still fights and also promotes the Boonchu Cup: Caged Muay Thai. It is Muay Thai with MMA gloves, which is starting to become more popular, but he was doing it before everyone else. He is currently on a three fight win streak, with his latest victory coming over Matthew Richardson at the Boonchu Cup 9 this past December.
This is the type of fighter that we need more of. No ego, hard work, and someone that is very approachable.
