Bellator Kickboxing 6 took place in Budapest, Hungary on Friday and featured some big names in action.
In the main event Bellator Kickboxing welterweight champion Zoltan Laszak put his title on the line against Karim Ghajji. The bout was a re-match from Bellator Kickboxing 3 where Laszak defeated Ghajji by split decision to claim the vacant title. This time around Ghajji returned the favor as he edged out Laszak by split decision to become the new champion. These two know each other very well in the ring and both were cerebral in the closely contested fight.
Joe Schilling returned to action against Alexandru Negrea in what was target practice for the American. Schilling controlled the ring from the start and continuously launched combinations at Negrea. There wasn’t much offense offered up from Negrea as he spent most of the fight with his back against the ropes while eating shots from Schilling. In the end Schilling was awarded a unanimous decision. He has now wont two straight fights.
Raymond Daniels was his typical flashy self against Gyorfi Csaba. He opened up his full arsenal in this fight as he was successful with punches, knees, and kicks. From the start he punished Csaba’s body with kicks and punches. Csaba tried to be aggressive, but Daniels was too much. Near the end of the second round a left hook to the body dropped Csaba, and despite making it to the third round it was just the beginning of the end. In the third a spinning kick to the body put Csaba down for good. With the win Daniels remains undefeated in the Bellator Kickboxing ring.
Undefeated Jorina Baars made a successful promotional debut against Irene Martens. She showed why she is considered by many to be the best female Kickboxer at the moment. She poured it on throughout the fight and despite Martens best efforts, Baars was too big and strong. In the third round it seemed Baars might finish Martens. With a little over a minute left in the fight she backed Martens into the ropes and connected with back to back right hands that dropped her. After Martens recovered, Baars was looking for the finish. With about ten seconds left she connected with a right to the body followed by a right to the head that forced Martens to crouch over and the referee initiated a standing eight count. Martens survived until the end but it was clear that Baars had won as she took home a unanimous decision.
Gabriel Varga’s Bellator Kickboxing debut didn’t go as planned. His arrival was spoiled by Gabor Gorbics, who won a split decision over Varga.
