North American Super Welterweight Rankings 5/2/2013

Since
the last update Michael Mananquil has entered the 154lb rankings after
originally being the number one 147lb fighter in North America, Mananquil has
been active in the 154lb division as of late and is now set to compete in the
154lb Road to Glory USA tournament on May 11th. Luis Bio drops to number three
with the addition of Mananquil and Shane Oblonsky falls out of the ranking due
to inactivity. Cyrus Washington enters at number four and like Mananquil will
compete in the Road to Glory USA
154lb tournament. Bryce Krause drops to number five, while previous number five,
Joe Sampieri is no longer on the list after deciding to drop down to 147lbs.
1.
Chike Lindsay (18-4)

Lindsay is currently on a five fight win streak that includes victories over
the likes of Somluck Kamsing, Malaipet Sasiprapa, and Cyrus Washington. The Atlanta based fighter has
clearly established himself as one of the top North American fighters in the
last year. His next fight will easily be the toughest test of his career as he
is slated to fight Muay Thai legend Yodsanklai Fairtex at Lion Fight 10 on July 26th. A win
by Lindsay against Yodsanklai would be huge not only for his career for the sport
in North America.
2. Michael Mananquil (16-4)
It seems 154 is the division where Mananquil will likely reside. His last two
wins have been in the 154lb division, and he is now expected to return to action in
the Road to Glory USA 154lb tournament on May 11th in Milwaukee. One
of the most technical fighters in the sport, he has to be considered an early
favorite to win the Road to Glory USA tournament.
3.
Luis Bio (11-4)
(@LuisBio1)
Bio last won at WCK Muay Thai’s  “Matter
of Pride” event this past November where he won a unanimous decision over Zhipeng
Zhou. Bio has easily established himself as the best fighter out Mexico in the
last few years. In his most recent bout he dropped a decision to Zhipeng Zhou in the Wu Lin Feng 154lb 8-man tournament in China this past December.
His next fight is currently unknown
4.
Cyrus Washington (51-22-1)
(@BlackDynamiteMT)
Washington has won back to back fights against Jeremy Carper
and Strahinja Ivanovic. He is next slated to competed in the Road to Glory USA 154lb tournament in Milwaukee on May 11th. With Glory’s
fast paced style it will be interesting to see if “Black Dynamite” can use his
explosiveness en route to the tournament crown.
5.
Bryce Krause (9-4-1)

Krause returned to action after another year long layoff to be part of the K-1
Max tournament. He faced Justin Greskiewicz in the opening round and early on
it looked as if Krause might be on his way to victory, but Greskiewicz turned
the tables and defeated Krause by (T)KO. Currently Krause is now set to fight
Douglas Edwards at M-One “Reborn” on May 16th.
