MTA: Mike you have a fight against Baoming Li at WCK Muay Thai’s: Matter of Pride on November 11th in Las Vegas. How has training been going for the fight?
Mike: Training has been going great, I am healthy, this will be my fourth fight in six months so I have been staying in shape.
MTA: You will be representing Team WCK against Team WuLinFeng. Are you familiar with your opponent at all?
Mike: I am familiar with my opponent he faced one of my teammates before. I know he is very technical and aggressive and so am I so it will be a great match up.
MTA: You are coming off a victory at K-1 and have gone 3-0 since turning pro earlier in the year. As a fighter how do you try and evolve each fight?
Mike: I am very critical of myself and always expect so much more of myself because I know I have the skills. On the other hand I feel myself growing as a fighter and learning every time I step in the ring so I think every time you will see me fight I will be a better fighter. Me and my coach are working on where I need improvement. But seeing yourself getting better is an amazing feeling.
MTA: WuLinFeng’s rules a similar to K-1, what do you prefer to fight K-1 rules of full rules Muay Thai?
Mike: I am a Muay Thai fighter at heart and will always be. My best weapons are my knees and elbows so therefore I prefer fighting full Muay Thai rules. With that being said, I like to fight, and I like the challenge of facing different fighting styles.
MTA: When you fight K-1 rules as opposed to full rules, how much does your attack plan change?
Mike: My attack plan is certainly affected because you cannot clinch or throw elbows and I am an aggressive fighter, but that is the beauty of fighting, you have to adapt, you have to figure out your opponent’s weakness and exploit it.
MTA: Can we get a prediction for your fight?
Mike: I can promise you and very technical and aggressive fight from both of us. My hands will be raised in the end. So bet on me in Vegas!
MTA: With the year quickly coming to a close are you going to try and get one more fight in after this bout?
Mike: No this will most likely be my last fight of the year, four fights in 6 months is pretty good! But I would not turn down a good offer!
MTA: Not looking past your fight with Li Baoming, but do you have anyone in particular that you would like to eventually fight?
Mike: I do not have anyone in sight, but I have something in sight and that is a belt! So whoever they want me to fight I will.
MTA: Any words for your supporters Mike?
Mike: For my supporters, I greatly appreciate all of you, please continue to support me it motivates me more than you can imagine! Khob khun krup everyone.
