Buakaw still fighting in Los Angeles on September 2nd

Muay Thai Authority has been able to confirm with Muaythia Premier League president Clifton Brown that Buakaw will indeed be fighting at their inaugural event on September 2nd in Los Angeles, CA.

Yesterday Yokkao Boxing announced Yokkao Extreme an event which will take place on January 21st of 2012 in Milan, Italy. Buakaw vs. Dzhabar Askerov was announced as the main event, and in addition stated that the fight will not take place in Los Angeles on September 2nd as previously announced by the Muaythai Premier League. They went on to state that Buakaw might still be fighting at the event on September 2nd, but that Askerov will not because the bout for the event in Italy has already been signed and it can not occur before then.

Clifton Brown informed Muay Thai Authority today that Buakaw is still on the show and stated “We can confirm 100% that Buakaw is still on our show”. As for Askerov it seems that he will no longer be fighting on the September 2nd event, although Brown could not confirm or deny the statement by Yokkao Boxing.

With Askerov seemingly out of the bout on September 2nd it will be interesting to see who is tapped to replace him in the bout with Buakaw. Despite the scare that many of the Americans received it seems their hopes of seeing Buakaw fight in the U.S. are still alive.

To clear up the confusion that some fans have had regarding this bout the Muaythai Premier League and Yokkao Boxing are two different promotions run by two different promoters. Some people originally thought that the fight was still part of the Muaythai Premier League and it was being moved to Italy but that is not the case. The fight is no longer part of the Muaythai Premier League and will be fought under the Yokkao Boxing promotion.
